Parrot Birds

Do You Know That Parrots Have To Also Clean Themselves Up?

All of us know that one of the keys to a hale and hearty living to properly taking care of your body. This is one and the same thing with animals and birds. Every parrot knows that it needs to keep itself clean. In most cases, oil and dirt usually accumulate on the body of the parrot and if these remain on the body of the parrot for too long, it may cause the parrot to become ill.

Just as not every person will to take a bath always, there are so parrots who may not be too much agitated to taking a bath. This is obviously going to be your responsibility. If you have a parrot, try as much as possible to let it have a bath at least once in seven days. There are so many ways to let it do this. But it should be warned that only plain water should be provided. Keeping in mind that soap or chemicals in the water may be injurious to the health of the parrot.

It you find that it is not easy compelling your parrot to clean up itself, you can trick it by placing some food in a bowl of water. Through this means, your parrot will eat and at the same time, it will be washing up its body. This can be done inside the cage as well as outside. If you pit some foodstuff into the same water that it will use to clean itself up, make sure that clean water is put back straight away. Remember that your parrot must have some very pure water to drink.

Never attempt to compel your parrot to bathe. The above method should be tried several times. But if it proves unsuccessful, try another method of spraying the parrot with water. This should be simulated to look as if it is raining.

You can also force the parrot to bathe by taking your bath with the parrot either fixed on a branch or on your shoulder.

The simplest way of know if the parrot really likes taking a bath is when you observe it extending its wings and shaking its tail.

Giving your parrot a shower should not just be limited to the above features. There are certain things you must observe. These are meant to have the parrot get the best from its bath.

Begin by knowing that the best time for the parrot to bath is when it is hot. Remember that when temperatures are cold, it may be difficult for your parrot to dry itself at once. And if your parrot is till found wet in the dark, the cold it is going to experience will be injurious to its health.

Continue by providing only water that is free of chemicals. Make sure that the water is neither too hot nor too cold. It should conform to the body temperature of your parrot.

Finally, the feathers should never be completely soaked in water. Remember that your parrot may loose its normal body temperature and the wet feathers may leave it unable to fly later.
