Buying a parrot involve little efforts when compared to what you will have to do to make the parrot live like a pet. To successfully do so will take much of your time. But remember that the benefits in doing so are more than the sacrifices involved in doing so.

Parrots can live for long more than you can think of. Parrots can live for as much as a hundred years and as less as twenty five years. This will however depend on the specie of parrot that you have and the manner in which the parrot is fed. Taking care of a parrot will therefore mean you are into a lifelong commitment.

Once you have purchased, the next thing that you'd want to happen is taming the parrot that you have acquired. This might take some time, but it's such a rewarding experience for everybody who takes care of it. You will therefore have to be aware of everything in related to the manner in which the parrot will be taken care.

When you have just brought the parrot home, there should be some quite observance of the parrot. Remember that the parrot should be left alone. It should be kept in a very comfortable way and everyone should develop some attention towards the parrot. Make sure that the parrot is confident in the presence of every person. You can give room for everybody to communicate with the parrot. Remember that it has to be used to everybody at home.

Continue by trying to let the parrot a bit loose from its cage. You can put your hand into the cage to see how the parrot is going to act in response to it. If you realise that the parrot is still timid, you should avoid forcing I out of the cage.

Always use the parrot’s favourite food to entice it. This should be used to let the parrot win over your confidence and those of others around it. Make sure you research on what parrots like best and offer these to your parrot.

Teaching the parrot to become used to your ways should be done next. It is not easy trying to tame every type of parrots. There are more than 350 species of parrots and each type has its individual way of behaving. There are also so many species within the various types of parrots and these may also have their particular mode of living. Therefore training a parrot should never be thought of as something simple and this will also vary with the different types of parrots. Normally, the Cockatoos and the Ringnecks will not pose a lot of stress to the owner when training it like most other species.

Whatever the case may be, you must know that you have a duty to personally tame your parrot to your taste. Make sure you bring the bird to naturally feel at ease with those at home.
